This is a Karisma resort. There are several Maroma resorts owned by the same company so to be clear this is the one located north of Playa del Carmen at Carretera Cancun Tulum Km The resort is beautiful.
I picked it because when I was looking it came up as number 1 in Playa del Carmen on Trip advisor. It is very expensive. All inclusive means all meals, beach amenities, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, 24 hour room service, mini-bar you may customize it and more.
It does not include excursions or other activities away from the resort. Upon arrival, we were greeted very properly and with a glass of champagne. We proceeded to our room with the bellman. Our room was on the second floor, no elevator. At the gate entrance they said our room was , but we received The first thing we noticed was the beautiful room and balcony with a small private pool - they call it a jacuzzi, but it was not heated.
The second thing we noticed was that this room was the second to last room at the end, the farthest from the beach. It had a view of the back side It had a view of the back side of one of the restaurants.
The view included the garbage area of the restaurant. The palm trees were higher than the room, and therefore the room offered no other views. Also, the odor from the garbage area was very strong to the point that sitting on the porch or going into the little pool was not possible. So we went back to the front desk, and they said that no other rooms were available until the next day.
